How ABS Works (1)
My Friend Kevin (who submitted this to the Pittsburgh Club January 2012 newsletter and where I stole it with the Editor's permission, of course) is on top of all the latest technical stuff about ABS (Anti-Lock-Brakes and Braking Systems) and explains how the heck the stuff works. The dog on the left has the ABS. Note
how s/he never loses traction, but keeps pulsing the brakes, while the dog on the right without ABS simply locks up and skids, the latter occurrence, on a motorcycle leading to loss of control. Next time a buddy wonders how ABS works, show ‘em this!
PS. sadly, the ABS did not help the left dog stop before he reached the water either...
